Lockdown Survival Guide #20

Updated: Jun 8, 2020

In order to do our part during this most trying of times, We at NOWO have come together to help in the only way we know how - Gaming. We're putting together a daily list of games that we personally recommend you try whilst you remain indoors in the various types of isolation and social distancing we're all experiencing.

When you're stuck in the same small space for too long, you're bound to fight. Rather than giving eachother blackeyes and risking a trip to A&E we recommend these fighting games to vent your frustrations;

Marvel vs Capcom 2

Yes, Marvel games were a thing and were even good before Disney owned them! In fact there's plenty of characters crossing over here that the movie aficionados won't have seen before. Marvel vs Capcom 2 is a homage to all the Capcom/Marvel games that came before it as it contains basically every character from those titles. 3 on 3 battles, over the top specials and plenty of fanservice, make this the best game in the series. I can't recommend it enough!

Super Smash Bros

Winner of Best Fighting Game at 2019’s The Game Awards, Super Smash Bros on the Nintendo Switch combines all your favourite Nintendo characters - such as Mario, Pikachu and Link - as well as other familiar faces in video game history – such as Cloud from Final Fantasy, Snake from Metal Gear and Ryu from Street Fighter – to battle it out in a series of different game modes. With online multiplayer, you are able to fight not only your friends but players from all around the globe. Perfect for casuals and pros alike!

Injustice 2

If, like me, you sort of missed the “Streetfighter/Mortal Kombat” gene but still want to play a fighting game then I suggest Injustice as an accessible but challenging entry into the genre. With characters you will probably already know from movies and cartoons beautifully recreated for your control then you can set to finding a character you like and playing through the in-game tutorials to build up your moves library. You can also bolster your character with costumes and items to boost your skills to give you something to work towards beyond just being kickass.

What do you think of these recommendations and more importantly do you have your own? We'd love to hear about them so please let us know (@NerdOut_WordOut). Otherwise please make sure you STAY HOME & STAY SAFE!

Make sure you check back tomorrow for #21!
