Lockdown Survival Guide #14

Updated: Jun 8

In order to do our part during this most trying of times, We at NOWO have come together to help in the only way we know how - Gaming. We're putting together a daily list of games that we personally recommend you try whilst you remain indoors in the various types of isolation and social distancing we're all experiencing.

Laughter in the face of adversity! We're on a mission to make you smile today so here's what we think will do the trick to that end;

Octodad

You're an octopuss, posing as a man (a husband and father), trying to complete lifes simple tasks whilst avoiding the wrath of the local chef who's hell bent on cooking you. Simple. Not unlike I am Bread, the game is built around it's functional but confusing controls and getting it wrong is more often fun than getting it right. Made even more fun are the pranks you can pull on the local shoppers/kids as you systematically destroy each location you visit. Double the fun by having a friend or loved one operate set limbs and wreak the havoc in tamdem!

Untitled Goose Game

What’s funnier than watching a rogue goose harassing a frustrated landscaper? Not much! Although I’m sure many of you are already very familiar with this title, I present to you Untitled Goose Game. In the game, players navigate a small English countryside town as a menacing goose whose only goal is to cause havoc to the residents. This includes: stealing items, startling people, trapping shopkeepers in garages, and sneaking into pub gardens. All this anarchy, the reactions of the locals, and the silent film slapstick stylised soundtrack make this game hilarious to play and watch. So simple, but so effective.

South Park - The Stick of Truth

I have never played a licensed game that more accurately represents its original inspiration that South Park, The Stick of Destiny. The fact the TV show’s creators were so heavily involved in the development shows and it’s apparent throughout the game this is not just another cash grab movie tie-in game. This of course means that not only does the game look like an episode of South Park but it’s also very funny. It’s rare for me to “LOL” to myself when I’m gaming but various sections of this game really did have me truly belly laughing.

What do you think of these recommendations and more importantly do you have your own? We'd love to hear about them so please let us know (@NerdOut_WordOut). Otherwise please make sure you STAY HOME & STAY SAFE!

Make sure you check back tomorrow for #15!
